Halloween

I know all of these posts are out of order but oh well!! We found this lightning mcqueen pit crew costume at wal-mart the weekend before halloween. I am terrible and waited until almost the very last minute to buy my kid a costume...anyway, j wanted to be spiderman at first cuz that was the first costume that caught his eye. i for one am not a fan of spiderman and i don't really like full-face/head masks so i told him that we would keep looking...as i was shuffling through one rack of costumes i came across this one! as soon as j saw lightning mcqueen on the package, he was sold on it. spiderman went out the window (out of the basket actually cuz he ended up on the floor...yes i picked it up :) and pit crew member it was! he held his costume the rest of the time we were at the store and couldn't wait to wear it! it was a size 4-6 so I was afraid that it would drown him but he is just like his daddy in that he is ALL legs so it was only a little bit too long for him! the bottoms of the legs and sleeves were cuffed though so it didn't matter! it came with this hat and pretend headset. the headset wouldn't stay on his ear so me, being the crafty & creative mom that i am (sarcasm!) busted out the safety pins and attached the headset right to the hat! it worked...and proved that safety pins and/or duct tape really can fix anything :) anyway, i made j wear some long pajamas under the costume so he wouldn't get cold and off we went!

I almost forgot to grab his candy bucket...as we were leaving our house i had to tear the garage apart to find it...luckily it was easy to find so we were all set! The last 5 years, it has been our halloween tradition to hang out at my boss's house and trick or treat in their neighborhood. Instead of candy, they bbq hotdogs in their courtyard so we always get dinner before we go trick/treating! they live in an awesome neighborhood so we just go around and get candy from all their neighbors! some of them give out FULL SIZE candy bars! j was so well behaved and so polite...each time he knocked on a door i would remind him to say "trick or treat" but by the time the door opened he would sometimes forget and just say "please" instead! so cute...he always said "thank you" too! there was one house where he forgot to say thank you and he looked and said "mommy, i forgot to say thank you" and he ran back to the door before it closed to say it!! What good manors he has :) I was a little annoyed to see older kids (14+) out trick or treating...i don't think it's the fact that they were trick or treating that bugged me but the fact that they didn't pay attention to the littler kids around them. there were a few times i thought i was gonna have to take a few of them out cuz they almost ran over my j-bug! yes, i'm a little protective :) poor little j had a hard time at some of the houses cuz all the bigger kids would just push and shove their way to the front...he was so patient though and just waited his turn at the back of the line!

At this house, these two girls walked up to the door behind him and they just loved him! he of course had to flirt with them and show off his charming little smile! they were so sweet to just wait for him to do his thing and pick some candy!

After about and hour and a half of candy-bagging thru the neighborhood we returned to my boss's house to chill for a while. j had fun eating some of his treats and hangin out with the other kids. mostly he just showed off and acted silly as he often does when other people are around! free entertainment!!

This is my boss's daughter & son-in-law. they just got married in may and are the cutest couple!! i had to take a picture of their costume...in case you can't tell, she is an electical socket and he is a plug (complete with a cord!)! i laughed at this all night cuz it was so cute!

We once again had a fun halloween and look forward to next year!! j loved his costume so much that he may just use it again! we are still workin on the candy he got but of course the reese's peanut butter cups he got were gone within 24 hours! he loves those things!!
